Kasi Tamil Sangamam

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 was inaugurated on December 2, 2025, at Namo Ghat in Varanasi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision at its heart. His speech emphasized cultural unity, the deep civilizational ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, and the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.”

A Cultural Bridge Between North and South

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 is not just an event—it is a celebration of India’s civilizational continuity. Held in Varanasi, the city of knowledge and spirituality, the Sangamam brought together delegates from Tamil Nadu to experience the grandeur of Kashi’s ghats, rituals, and traditions. The program included Vedic rituals, cultural exchanges, and a Ganga cruise, where Tamil delegates witnessed the mesmerizing evening Ganga Aarti and the timeless beauty of the riverfront.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi first envisioned this initiative in 2022, during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, as a way to strengthen bonds between the world’s oldest living language—Tamil—and one of the world’s oldest living cities—Kashi .Since then, the Sangamam has evolved into an annual cultural confluence, now in its fourth edition.

PM Modi’s Message at the Inauguration

While the inauguration was formally conducted by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, PM Modi’s inspiration and vision shaped the event UNITED NEWS OF INDIA News On AIR. In his earlier Mann Ki Baat address, the Prime Minister highlighted the Sangamam as a platform to celebrate India’s diversity and unity. He reflected on the extraordinary confluence of Tamil culture and Kashi’s spiritual heritage, calling it a reminder of India’s strength in multilingualism and cultural richness

Key themes from his message included:

  • Unity in Diversity: The Sangamam embodies the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, reinforcing India’s cultural integration.
  • Civilizational Continuity: PM Modi emphasized the ancient ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, strengthened historically by saints like Adi Shankaracharya.
  • Educational and Cultural Exchange: He envisioned the Sangamam as a platform for students, scholars, and cultural practitioners to learn from one another.
  • National Pride: Modi linked the event to India’s broader achievements, such as agricultural growth, symbolizing how cultural and economic progress go hand in hand

  • Cultural Diplomacy Within India: It bridges regional identities, fostering mutual respect and understanding.
  • Spiritual Resonance: Both Kashi and Tamil Nadu are sacred centers of Hindu tradition, making this exchange deeply symbolic.
  • Youth Engagement: By involving students and scholars, the Sangamam ensures that younger generations carry forward these bonds.
